REDSTAR A Not So Future Wargame Involving Nato and the Warsaw Pact From Ark Royal Games REDSTAR is a solitaire wargame simulating military conflict in Europe. Player controls the Nato forces against an overwhelming computer controlled Soviet Bloc. Player must capture and hold Berlin to win the game. RUN "WAR" and follow prompts. Select Novice or Expert and set the number of turns. MAPBOARD: RIVER: blue lines. MOUNTAINS: orange spotted areas. FOREST: green CITY: white square in the upper right is Berlin. UNITS: Players units in 'white' are at left. Warsaw Pact in blue at right. ARMOR: tank symbol AIRBORNE: airplane symbol INFANTRY: square ARTILLERY: small square (artillery have ranged firing capability) At the very bottom of the screen is listed TURN, SCORE and DATA. PLAY: The blinking cursor is over one of your units. To move unit press arrow keys and move cursor. Cursor will not move beyond range limits. Press to end movement and send unit to cursor location. By pressing player may inspect location; information appears at the bottom of the screen. To skip unit press the twice. Close Combat allows a unit to attack an adjacent unit. Move the blue cursor to the enemy unit you wish to attack and press . When computer attacks your unit will be replaced by a white "A". Ranged Combat allows artillery units to attack at a distance. During artillery phase place cursor on the unit you wish to attack. Press . When player has completed all his moves press . There are four possible combat results. 1) No Effect 2) Disruption (unit may not move the following turn) 3) Retreat (unit may not move the following turn) 4) Elimination. TERRAIN: Rivers stop all movement. Mountains and forests slow movement, mountains more than forests. VICTORY: Player will achieve one of the following at the end of the game.
